The Smart Blended Marriage

Blending two families together can be challenging, especially during summer breaks and the holidays! Yet, with healthy expectations and effective resources, stepfamilies can build their own traditions and create cohesiveness that nurtures these relationships.

Almost 70% of remarriages with children end in divorce within the first 24 months. In this series, we will teach you how to prioritize your relationships in a godly way, dig in for the long haul and offer you practical tools to strengthen your family’s communication and help you find purpose in misunderstandings that arise in the world of a stepfamily. We’re here to help you beat the statistics

What to Expect

This small group study provides an opportunity for couples to enhance their relationship and build intimacy. It will help you to apply the principles found in “The Smart Stepfamily Marriage” by Ron L. Deal to your relationship, whether dating, engaged, or married.

Each session you will be asked to read a corresponding chapter of The Smart Stepfamily Marriage (TSSM) before each meeting and discuss the “Before the Meeting” questions with your partner. During each session the group will share thoughts and
insights into how to apply the principles of TSSM.
Groups offer:
• A community of care.
• A safe place.
• A “no Spin” zone where truth is told about how messy life can be.
• A nourishing environment that speaks to people’s daily concerns and encourages them to deepen their relationship with God, themselves and others.
• A confidential gathering of people who meet on a regular basis for support and encouragement.

Group leaders are effective because they have been through life experiences similar to those of group members. Groups are effective because of the caring and the informal friendships that are built.
